The Shamrock Hotel in Blackville was built in the early 1900′s and operated until the mid 1960′s, with store on the ground floor operating for a few years later. Please excuse the rain-splashed lens… these shots were snapped between scattered showers. Blackville was at the junction of two rail lines, Southern Railway’s line from Charleston SC to Hamburg and their line from Columbia to Hardeeville Both lines were abandoned in this area before the hotel closed. One of the locals says that the ruins are the result of a fire in the 1990′s that destroyed most of the buildings on the block.
